Block Occupancy Detectors

Block Occupancy Detectors

Placement of insulators

The FreeMo spec allows for insulators at the end of modules. We will need to have this at every module in order to facilitate signal blocks.

(excerpt from the spec)

Insulator can be an insulated rail joiner or “air insulator” cut in the rail. Either is acceptable.

1 to 1 Module

No insulators are needed within the module.

1 to 1 Module with Siding

Place insulators on siding track. Feeder to siding, but do not use block occupancy detector.

1 to 2 Module

See drawing below for insulator placement.

1 to 2 Module with Siding

See drawing below for insulator placement.

Block Occupancy Detector Placement

Each mainline block or or passing track with have an occupancy detector. Sidings will not need them.

These will be inserted on the red wire side of the module. If you do not have a block detector module yet, please add 3” of wire (red wire only) to your to be able to cut one into your circuit.
