Installing IR detector and emitter
Emitter is usually clear
Detector is not clear
Wiring to PCB
J5 is primary optical connection for separating block A from block B
Pin 1 is the square pad
TX (emitter is pin 1 and 2). IR LED is forward biased with anode to pin 1
Flat side of LED is the cathode
RX (detector is pin 3 and 4). Detector is reverse biased. Just flip it around and see what works, it will not blow up.

Need caps on current sense transistors else the port expander can’t see them properly trip
v2 design comprehends all issues
CAT5 connectors are mis-labelled for A and B connections
